Yes, really! I’m a published photographer!

September 1, 2010

I took this photo in May 2009.  It’s St Catherine’s Oratory which stands on one of the highest parts of the Isle of Wight overlooking the beautiful south western coast.  The whole of this part of the Isle of Wight is an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, and from the backdrop to this photograph I think you’ll understand why.

This unusual octagonal structure was built in1328 and was probably originally a lighthouse.  It’s known locally as ‘The Pepperpot’ and I’m rather fond of it.  Apart from the original posting of this photograph here on my blog in May 09 I also posted another very different view back in October 09, plus there’s another, taken the same day as this one, on my Flickr photostream.

And now this photograph has become my very first image ever to be published in a magazine. It accompanies an article about weekend breaks on the Isle of Wight in this publication, which is aimed at the clientele of a leading supplier of traceability and accountability solutions in the healthcare sector (I wish I knew what that meant!), and they found it through my Flickr account.

Just thought I’d share that with you all….

Oh, how nice. It is a wonderful photo. And the structure itself so provocative to think about. A lighthouse in the 1300s. What life must have been like back then. It strikes an Umberto Eco mood in me. Congratulations.
